Haiti – An appeal by FTH President

In a matter of seconds this time last year Haiti was devastated by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake. This impoverished nation suffered the lost 230,000 lives, more than 300,000 injured and left 1.3 million homeless.
It was through your support and partnership that allowed Feed The Hungry to respond immediately with life-saving aid.  Over this past year we have provided over 20 containers of rice, oil, beans, tarps, blankets and most importantly Haitian bibles bringing the hope that is in Christ Jesus.
   
If the earthquake in January wasn’t enough to endure, 2010 also brought rains and a hurricane to the capital of Haiti. In October, an outbreak of cholera surfaced. It has since killed more than 2,600 and infected another 120,000.

As different aid groups leave and the spotlight of Haiti is removed from the news. The ministry of Feed The Hungry is holding steadfast continuing to provide hope and encouragement to a people that have suffered so much in a short period of time.

Today as look back and think about this tragedy that destroyed a nation. We can share that in all the death, destruction, and hopelessness that through your partnership we were able to be a light in the darkness.

We would ask you to please continue to pray for the nation of Haiti as they try to rebuild their nation and lives. Also, as we mark this day of remembrance would you consider a special gift to help partner with Feed The Hungry as we hold steadfast and keep the light of gospel shining bringing hope and encouragement to the Haitian people.

海地大地震周年

去年1月12日在海地發生的7級大地震, ，在幾秒鐘內就奪去這個貧窮國家的23萬個生命，30多萬人受傷，大約130萬人無家可歸。

通過你們的支持和奉獻，美膳會可以提供立時的救生援助及供應糧食給災民。

在過去的一年，美膳會已經為災民提供超過 20多個貨櫃箱的米、油、豆、帆布帳篷及毛毯，最重要的是我們向災民派發海地文的聖經，為海地人民帶來耶穌基督的福音和希望．
   
暴雨和颶風在2010年也接踵而來，吹襲海地首都，在兩個多月前更不幸爆發了霍亂疫症，奪去2600多條生命，患病人數超過12萬。 

隨著時間過去，海地不再是新聞焦點，而不同的援助團體也已逐步撤離該地。但美膳會仍堅持繼續支持海地人民，給他們希望及鼓勵。



今天回顧這個差點摧毀一個國家的悲劇，很多人要面對家人的死亡、家園被毀，陷於絕望．幸好有你們的慷慨捐助，與我們結成伙伴，共同成為黑暗中的明燈，把神的愛帶給那些遭受苦難的災民。

我誠意邀請你們繼續為海地的國家重建工作及人民生活代禱；在這地震的紀念日，也懇請你們考慮作一次特別的奉獻，支持美饍會持續在海地的慈惠工作，幫助當地人民解決飢餓、用水、修理或建造房子的需要，藉此讓福音的光繼續照耀海地，為海地人民帶來希望和鼓勵。
