A word from the Director of FTH

Almost a year has gone by since 3-11. Many survivors are on their way to recovery, many are trying to fit back into Society. We ask you not to forget Japan and the many front line workers still serving faithfully for the natural and spiritual welfare of the survivors. We invite you to pray for them and remember them. Pastor Makoto is still raising fund in the hope to purchase the Inawashiro Community Centre to help orphans, to train young Christian leaders, to build an indoor farmland to help the farmers to work again. If you feel touched to support financially, please donate to this worthwhile cause. May the Lord bless you for your faithfulness.

Looking Ahead - 1 Sept 2011

Looking Ahead : Eastwind Ministry under Tokyo Bible Church has found this education centre for youth in Mt Bondai (磐梯石)by Inawashiro Lake (猪苗代湖 )in Fukushima in June 2011.

Inawashiro Lake

The vision of how and why the purchase of Inawashiro Centre in Fukushima

Mt Bondai was once named Mt Tendai which means “stairway to heaven” and Inawashrio was called Tendai Lake . Tendai means “Bethel”. Bethel means “House of God”.

When they revisited the property in June, Holy Spirit reminded them that two years ago members of Tokyo Bible Church came to this area to pray, and the Lord had shown them this land will one day be called “Land of Prayer”, now they are back here once more. They began asking God if this is the place to build a base to help orphaned children and youth who survived the Tohoku Earthquake.

As they prayed, they felt Fukushima will be restored as a Land of Blessing instead of a cursed land. They began sharing the vision to purchase this property with their partners; confirmation came from Taiwan and Hong Kong. In Hong Kong, the Director of Feed the Hungry wrote to Ps Makoto to say she was surprised to hear they had found a place called “Tendai” or “Bethel” in June. Since June she began joining a Korean prayer group to climb a mountain calls “Bethel”, in Chinese “Tendai” , to pray in “Bethel” every Saturday morning – how coincidental this is! In Hong Kong case, the naming must have come from the British Colonial time.

Miracle and Favour of God

Favour came from the owner to sell at a discount of 50% on the ongoing market price, the asking price was ¥50,000,000. The owner of the property had wanted this to be a blessing to youth and was disappointed that this facility have not reached its full potential nor used for the exact purpose. He was touched to hear of the ministry of Eastwind, and the many ways they had reached out to the youth in Tokyo and decided to sell to Eastwind whom he believed can complete the vision to minister to Japanese youth and children.

Another favour came, the required ¥10,000,000 deposit came together on 20th July, the balance of ¥40,000,000 will be needed by 29th August.

Initial Purpose

Eastwind plans to take about 10 orphans in the beginning and will increase the intake of orphans gradually. The Centre will also be used as an education centre for earthquake student-survivors from Sendai and Fukushima area.

A hydroponic Cultivation Indoor farming

Because of the nuclear crisis in Fukushima, the next decade appears to be hopeless to the local farmers and no hope to youth in farming industry employment.

Partnership with a Taiwanese company Eastwind plans to start an Indoor Hydroponic Cultivation farming, using new farming technology to grow vegetables, if this model works, Eastwind plans to submit the result to the local government to consider, Eastwind is willing to share the indoor farming technique to help since outdoor is no longer a possibility

The running cost will be underwritten by FTH.

FTH will also provide food for the kitchen for young orphans and youth living in the centre.

Vision

To raise up a generation of Japanese youth who know Jesus.

To restore the livelihood of the Fukushima farmers. Families can come back to Fukushima.

To turn the land from curses to blessing.
