Mission
The call to Mission is in the heart of God. The vision of mission gives an on-going purpose to every Christian. Whether they go or not, they are an undeniable part of the Great Commission to go into all the world and teach and make disciples in all nations. A missionary trip (long or short term) and all the experiences you encounter will burn within you and kindle a fire that lasts a life time – Dr Brian Bailey, President, Zion Fellowship International.

This is to help the parents to send the children to school instead of keeping them in the farm to work. Read about their stories in our Countries Update. All the children come under Every Child Every Day Program.

Please pray that the Children continue to learn in a happy environment. They continue to shine for Jesus. Many led their own parents to Christ.

Pakistan became a Republic in 1956 and has since seen 3 wars with India, 1 civil war and 4 military presidents. Political unrest and economic problems have plagues the country throughout its history, often punctuated by major natural disasters such as the Bhola cyclone in 1970, which killed half a million people, and the more recent Kashmir earthquake in 2005

Due to the poverty of the people and their inability to seek medical help, last year our Germany FTH Director drove an ambulance from his native country to Pakistan to deliver the much needed medical supplies to hill tribe people. That was one of the many visits Jean Pierre made to Pakistan. He has been involved with Pakistan Christian groups in earthquake rescue works since 2005. Please read about his Ambulance Drive Report in our Countries Update.

Please remember the Christians in Pakistan. Pray that the nominal Christians in the community would catch the fire of God and seek personal growth and intimacy with Him.

Please pray for wisdom and protection over churches and pastors in Pakistan.

The Philippines

Population: 91,077,287 Ethnic Groups 17% Tagalog 10% Cebuano 8% Ilocano 6% Bikol 8% Bisaya/Binisaya 8% Hiligaynon Illonggo 3% Waray 40% others

Industry: Electronics assembly, garment, footwear, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, wood products, food processing, petroleum refining and fishing

Religions: 80.9% Roman Catholic, 5% Muslim, 2.8% Evangelical, 2.3% Iglesian ni Kristo, 2% Agulipayan, 4.5% other Christian, 2.5% other

Though the Philippines has a higher percentage of Christians than any other Asian nation, the country still faces tremendous problem, both naturally and spiritually . Roman Catholicism is the nation’s dominant form of Christianity, and many who say they believe in Christ do not possess a saving relationship with Him. Though rich in resources, the country faces great economic problem largely due to years of systematic corruption throughout the government. Every year, millions of young Filipinos head overseas to find employment.

Cathedral of Praise in Manila has been supporting our works in China. Last year FTH HK was able to participate in their rescue operation when the whole Manila city was in water after tropical storm 'Ondoy' made landfall near Baler, Quezon province. You can read the story in our Archives.

Please pray for that the Lord of the Harvest will thrust forth labourers to bring message of love and truth to the people of the Philippines. That God would give Christian leadership divine strategies for the city and beyond.

Myanmar

Population 47,373,958 Ethnic Groups 68% Burman 9% Shan 7% Karen 4% Rakhine 3% Chinese 2% Indian 2% Mon 5% other

Industry: Agricultural processing; wood and wood products, copper, tin, tungsten, iron, cement, construction materials, pharmaceuticals; fertilizer, natural gas, garments, jade and gems

Religions 89% Buddhist 4% Christian 4% Muslim 1% Animist 2% other

Myanmar is ruled by a repressive military junta that puts strict regulations on the people’s freedom. Religion is strictly controlled by the state and Christianity is discouraged. Although a resource-rich nation, Myanmar has one of the world’s poorest economies because of the regime’s policies and basic infrastructure is solely lacking. Still, believers in Myanmar bravely press on through the dangers, and a remnant of God’s people is growing in Myanmar.

Pray for more religious freedom all over Myanmar. Pray that God will meet all the needs of the poor.

Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)

Population: 24,051,218 Ethnic Group Chosun Korean

Industry: Agricultural, tourism . North Korea has an industrialized, near-autarkic, highly centralized command economy. Of the five remaining Communist states in the world, North Korea is one of only two (along with Cuba) with an almost entirely government-planned, state-owned economy. North Korea's isolation policy means that international trade is highly restricted, hampering a significant potential for economic growth.

Religions: Buddhism (4.5%) and Confucianism and to a lesser extent Korean shamanism 16% and syncretic Chondogyo. Irreligion 15,460,000 adherents (64.31% of population, the vast majority of which are adherents of the Juche philosophy). Cheondoism 13.5% Christian 1.7%

The Study of the doctrine of juche (self-reliance) and the ideology of "Great Leader" Kim Il-sung and today's "Dear Leader", his son Kim Jong-il are fully embraced and encouraged.

The capital and largest city is Pyongyang; other major cities include Kaesong in the south, Sinuiju in the northwest, Wonsan and Hamhung in the east and Chongjin in the northeast. The highest point in North Korea is Baekdu Mountain which is a volcanic mountain near the Chinese border with basalt lava plateau with elevations between 1,400 and 2,000 metres (4,600 and 6,600 ft) above sea level.

Famine

In the 1990s North Korea faced significant economic disruptions, including a series of natural disasters, economic mismanagement and serious resource shortages after the collapse of the Eastern Bloc. These resulted in a shortfall of staple grain output of more than 1 million tons from what the country needs to meet internationally accepted minimum dietary requirements.[115] The North Korean famine known as "Arduous March" resulted in the deaths of between 300,000 and 800,000 North Koreans per year during the three year famine, peaking in 1997, with 2.0 million total being "the highest possible estimate."[116] The deaths were most likely caused by famine-related illnesses such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, and diarrhea rather than starvation.

We would encourage our prayers to do your own research on this nation, and pray for them according to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Republic of Haiti

Population 9,035,536 Ethnic group 95.0% black, 5% mulatto and white.

Industry 66% of Haitian in agricultural, small-scale subsistence farming.

Religion is a powerful force politically and socially in Haiti. Roman Catholic 80% Protestant 16% (Baptist 10%, Pentecostal 4%, Adventist 1%, other 1%), none 1%, other 3% note: roughly half of the population practices voodoo.

Haiti is the poorest country in the Americas. However, it is not the poorest in the Western Hemisphere as per the Human Development Index.

About 80% of the population were estimated to be living in poverty in 2003. Most Haitians live on $2 or less per day, Haiti has 50% illiteracy. Poverty has forced at least 225,000 Haitian children to work as restavecs (unpaid household servants); the United Nations considers this to be a modern-day form of slavery.

On January 12, 2010, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti and devastated the capital city, Port-au-Prince. Reportedly more than 150,000 people were killed and buried later in mass graves, although the exact number was difficult to determine and the reported number fluctuates, and a large number are homeless. The Presidential palace, Parliament and many other important structures were destroyed, along with countless homes and businesses.

Feed the Hungry US Team was one of the earliest rescue operation teams arrived the struck area, after many rescue teams had left, FTH and the partners stay on to help the locals to recover fully. We’ve been ministering in Haiti for two decades and will continue to help this nation that is so dear and close to our hearts. The mercy mission continues on to help build houses and rebuild the lives of many. Bringing Hope to the Hopeless.

Please pray for the mission teams continue to make an impact in that society, Jesus is the only hope and the only light.
